Learning Outcomes for Trainers

You, as trainers, will learn from a participant’s point of view and then adapt that knowledge to fit your personal delivery style. You should come prepared with examples of cultural misunderstanding and cross-cultural communications needs of your own home group. Every trainer will be assigned a segment of the curriculum to prepare and lead in day two of the program.

Module I Outcomes

Trainers will teach their own participants to understand how culture influences behavior.

You will learn how to demonstrate cultural simulation exercises that will help participants learn how their own cultural values influence the interpretation of behaviors in other cultures. 

Trainers will teach participants to identify aspects of their own culture.

You will learn how to lead an exercise in creating a pictorial representation of one’s own culture and how to lead discussions in understanding the many facets of one’s culture. 

Trainers will teach participants to articulate what they value in their own culture.

You will learn how to lead discussions in understanding and articulating the values of culture expressed by the participants. 

Module II Outcomes

Trainers will teach participants to identify at least three non-verbal communication elements that may differ across cultures.

You will learn how to prepare to meet the needs of the various cultures represented in your community through exercises that help participants to understand and analyze how people view the world and interpret the behavior of others. Trainers will learn how to facilitate discussion in describing the implicit and explicit factors of culture. 

Trainers will teach participants will be able to identify at least three verbal communication elements that may differ across cultures.

You will learn how to compare and contrast societal preferences that are value based and to lead discussions that facilitate understanding key elements of culture chosen to meet the home audience’s specific needs.  

Trainers will teach participants to identify cross-cultural components impacting communication processes from analyzing dialogues.

You will learn  how to lead participants in thoroughly re-analyzing dialogues used in part one of Module I, allowing participants to apply what they have learned using specific terms, vocabulary, and understanding gained in Modules I and II.

Module III Outcomes

Trainers will teach participants to apply skills that they have learned to case studies and real cross-cultural situations they may be engaged in.

You will learn how to write and analyze case studies applicable to your own home audience needs and facilitate discussions that will allow participants to reinforce the knowledge they have gained in Modules I and II.
